TRAINING

Having the right equipment to deal with a fire emergency is vital, and so is knowing how to operate it effectively and efficiently. Being able to identify a hazard and put a plan into action rapidly requires training and practice.

Mainland Extinguishers is a member of the Fire Protection Association of New Zealand (FPA) and has been training people to identify hazards and operate equipment like fire extinguishers and fire blankets for over a decade.

“We really enjoyed the training and it highlighted to the team that it’s all good and well having a Fire Extinguisher on board, but unless you know how and when to use it, what’s the point!”

— Sara Fenn, Compliance Coordinator, Waste Management

A typical training session covers the different aspects of using a fire extinguisher, and hands-on use of the extinguisher so that participants are comfortable with basic operation and best practice. On successful completion of the training each participant will receive a certificate as will their employer.
